CLAIRE DEANE BUSH SANCTUARY (CDBS)
Claire's Bush Sanctuary is located between 16 & 18 Coolabah Crescent, Forestville, 2087
Naturally you are most welcome to visit CDBS at any time. However we particularly enjoy seeing visitors on our few volunteer work days each year after travelling from Dorrigo to be involved in this labour of love.
All Bush Regenerators are welcome to join us, as is anyone who knew Claire. It is also good to have NPWS and Warringah, Manly or Pittwater Council staff assisting us, plus anyone who cares for the Bush and for conserving nature.
Our planned bush regeneration days for 2010 are shown below. Carol and Trevor will be on site working between 12.30pm and 5pm or later but helpers and visitors are invited to come and go to suit their own arrangements. It is good just to see people even if you do not have time to stay, please come and see how CDBS is looking today, now nearly ten years since Claire last worked in it. NPWS staff, or ex-staff, involved in the June 2000 Hazard Reduction are also very welcome, as are any NPWS staff and volunteers who worked with Claire anywhere.

Under Noelene Hutchinson's supervision volunteers have helped with this very rewarding work since October 2000 following Claire's tragic death on 8th June 2000 at the age of 25 whilst working for the NSW NPWS in a hazard reduction in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Claire gained her Environmental Science Degree in the mid 1990's before commencing work as a bush regenerator visiting many parts of Sydney. She increased her skills by supervising and assisting weekend bush 'regen' volunteer groups but also found time to commence the massive repair work then required for what is now her Bush Sanctuary. Claire joined NPWS as a Field Officer in May 2000 having worked as a casual at Lane Cove NP since Jan 2000. To remember Claire visit www.clairedeane.info
